Christmas Decorations

So we had a little fun decorating for Christmas this year. It is so nice to have a house, a fireplace mantle and just more space to work with. I tried to capture some good pics but the pics just don't look as cool as it does in real life.
I love these hurricane glasses/candle holders that I got from Pier1. It's fun because you can change out what you put in the bottom and/or change the candles so there will be some variety throughout the year.

These guys are what you see on your way downstairs.

We thought it would be fun to add a bit of light to our banister/railing. We have since added colorful lights to the bottom and leading downstairs as well. It looks great at night!
I've already got the red accents going on upstairs so the Christmas decorations fit right in up there.
We are happy that our Christmas Star Wars friends can join us for Christmas this year. They are supposed to be door greeters but so far they have spent most of their time in Dal's room :)
We decided to go with some non-traditional teals and lavenders downstairs because we thought it would be different and fun, plus we already have a lot of light blue & teal accents downstairs.
We also kind of have a peacock thing going on downstairs which is why our tree is topped with a fun little peacock feather :) And the 'snow' on the tree helps it match our fireplace. So when you are downstairs and see them together it looks really nice!
Our stockings with glitter letters for our names. Who knew we had such symmetrical names :)
We found a teal tree skirt that was a perfect match to the teal stockings so we kind of had to get it.

And then you have to have some complimentary pillows :)

Well there you have it. We love Christmastime and are all pretty excited for this Holiday season!

Random Stuff

Some of Dal's artwork from 2nd grade. I found these pictures and thought I should post them for posterity's sake because I'm sure these pictures will get lost or thrown away somewhere along the way.

A little Madelyn with some crazy hair

Cafe Rio. Works cannot express how happy it makes me that we have a Cafe Rio here. We eat there A LOT :)

Dal made the newspaper when he went on his field trip. Everyone in our family except Madelyn has had their picture in the paper here.

Bath time. Madelyn loves taking baths. She loves splashing in the water and she loves to dry to dip her face in and then laughs when she gets a face full of water. Silly girl.

Braelyn has had perfect attendance so far in Kindergarten. Go B-Rae :)

Two days ago we went and played tennis. That's right, mid-December in Wyoming and we were out playing tennis in some beautiful weather. It was awesome!

Happy 6th Birthday Braelyn!!!

I can't believe this little girl is already 6 years old and is already in Kindergarten. I was just thinking about her as a baby the other day and am blown away at how fast time has gone. Braelyn had her first friend party this year and it turned out well and she had a lot of fun.

She wanted a "Hello Kitty cake" so we made the super simple and yummy ice cream sandwich cake and put some Hello Kitty toys on top and there you go.

We hung up balloons and had a big Happy Birthday sign.

Jake got a little creative and made a unicorn pinata because Braelyn really wanted a pinata. The kids had a great time whacking it and we found that it was pretty much indestructible so I had to help them out and rip it open and throw the candy around so that we could move on to the next activity :)

Along with the pinata, the kids played "Don't eat Pete", Disney Apples to Apples, had a little dance party and played with balloons and opened presents and ate cake. The kids that came (Chloe, Brylee, Ainsley, Kaylee, Addie & Casen) were some of her friends from around the neighborhood (and most of them are in our ward to.) They all had fun and they gave her some really fun presents too (lots of girly stuff)... including hair chalk stuff, fun glitter make-up, lip gloss, nail polish, jewelry making stuff, legos, etc.
One of the presents that we gave Braelyn was this big stuffed Olaf. She loves it and sleeps with it every night.

Happy Halloween!!!

The kids didn't have school on Friday so their Halloween fun started on Thursday with getting to wear their costumes to school and having their Halloween parties at school.  The weather was 65 degrees for Halloween and it was absolutely beautiful. At lunchtime we had a fun pizza and homemade root beer party with some of their neighborhood friends. Then to start the evening we went trick-or-treating at the hospital, then we went to the ward trunk-or-treat and then we came home and put Madelyn to bed and then I took the kids out trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. The kids got a TON of candy and had a lot of fun. There is just something fun about knocking on doors and everyone giving you candy :) Madelyn even enjoyed carrying her pumpkin around at the trunk-or-treat and getting some candy.

I just had to include this picture because it tells a lot about one of Madelyn's favorite things to do: Find some kind of technological device and play around with it. She is quite good at swiping and finding the app with the cartoons :)

This was the kids after school after their parties. Dal decided to be a fireman for school since it would be easier to put on and take off at school.

Braelyn first found her lady bug costume and she really wanted it and was excited about it. Then we saw this little lady bug costume for Madelyn and we knew that we had to get it :)

Look at what an adorable family I have!

I wore my Wonder Woman costume to work and I decided to wear a hat with it because how often do I get to wear a hat to work, and I like hats.

Gotta love that cute little face!

Guns and more Guns

Our friends Cam & Miranda have a lot of cool guns so they took us out shooting. And believe it or not, this was the first time I had ever shot a gun. It was really fun! And Braelyn was really excited  to shoot one too.

Miranda had an awesome little gun that I loved. It fit so nice in my hand and it shot really nice. This is a great woman self defense gun.

One of my other favorite guns was a big 22 with a scope. It shot really smooth and nice.

This gun was just big and cool. It had a laser scope.
